Setting Up Reservations
Configure your reservation system to match how your restaurant operates.
Step 1: Enable Reservations
- Go to Settings in your dashboard
- Find the Reservations section
- Toggle reservations on
Step 2: Configure Hours
- Set your reservation availability hours
- Choose booking window (how far in advance)
- Set maximum party size
- Configure minimum notice time (e.g., 2 hours before)
Step 3: Set Table Layout
- Define your tables (number, size, location)
- Assign table capacities (e.g., table 4 seats 2-4 people)
- Group tables by zone (patio, bar, main dining)
- Allow table combining for larger parties
Step 4: Customize Booking Flow
- Choose what information to collect from customers
- Set confirmation message
- Configure reminders and notifications
- Add special request fields
Step 5: Set a Booking Hold Policy (Deposits)
You can require a hold on bookings to reduce no-shows. The Booking hold policy in reservation settings gives you three options:
| Policy | Description |
| No hold | No deposit or card hold is collected |
| Deposit | A cash/mobile-money deposit makes the booking worth collecting on a no-show |
| Card hold | A card hold is stored but not yet charged |
When a deposit or card hold is enabled you can configure:
- Hold amount — the amount required per booking.
- Per cover — multiply the hold amount by the party size instead of charging a flat amount.
- Apply only for parties of at least — only require the hold for larger parties (leave blank to apply to everyone).
- Deposit refundable up to (hours before) — reservations cancelled within this window forfeit the deposit.
- No-show fee — the amount collected if the party doesn't show.
Deposits and holds appear on each booking as Deposit due, Deposit paid, or Deposit forfeited/refunded, with a reference code when one was recorded.
