Menu Translations
Menura translates your menu into other languages so you can serve multilingual audiences without maintaining a separate menu for each one.
Overview
Translation converts your menu content , including item names, descriptions, and category names , into other languages. This helps you reach customers who prefer browsing menus in their native language.
How It Works
- Source Content: Your menu content is authored in a primary language (e.g. English).
- Translation: The system generates a translation of every translatable field, leaving prices, URLs, and identifiers untouched.
- Customer Selection: Visitors to the public menu can switch languages using the language selector in the menu header.
- Session Persistence: The selected language is remembered during the customer's session.
Translating a Menu
Step 1: Access the Translation Feature
From the menu editor (/dashboard/menus/manage/[id]), look for the translation option.
Step 2: Select Target Languages
Choose the languages you want to translate into. The system will translate:
- Menu title and description
- Category names
- Item titles and descriptions
- Option group names and option labels
Step 3: Review Translations
Translations are provided for review. You can:
- Accept the translation as-is
- Manually edit any translation for accuracy
- Re-translate specific sections
Step 4: Publish
Save the translations. They become available to customers immediately.
Customer Experience
On the public menu (/m/[slug]):
- A language selector is displayed in the menu header (globe icon).
- Customers can switch languages at any time.
- The entire menu content updates to the selected language.
- The selection persists for the duration of the session.
Languages Supported
- English

Best Practices
- Review translations , Always review for context-specific terms. Menu item names that are proper nouns or brand names often should not be translated at all.
- Keep descriptions concise , Shorter text translates more accurately.
- Test on the public menu , Use the preview or check the public menu after enabling translations to verify the experience.
